 State Civil Society Coordination

The Civil Society Partnership Coordination and Partnership Desk is a program within CIMC, established in 2012 at the Government's recommendation to facilitate the development of the State-Civil Society Partnership.

The State-CSO Partnership is a strategy introduced by the Government of Papua New Guinea to formally engage Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), supporting and strengthening their valuable work in delivering intervention programs that complement government efforts.

CIMC’s engagement in this process was driven by the Government's need and desire to collaborate with a recognized national Civil Society umbrella body to advance the partnership initiative. The Government tasked CIMC with facilitating this process due to the absence of a Civil Society peak body and in recognition of CIMC’s extensive experience, established networks with CSOs across the country, and its well-established entry points within government circles.

 Open Government Partnership

The Open Government Partnership (OGP) is a governance model based on the idea that an open government is more accessible, responsive, and accountable to citizens. It Promotes transparent, participatory, inclusive and accountable governance and implemented through a Government and Civil Society Co-creation model.

CIMC is a critical partner in implementing the Public Participation Cluster Commitment and is implemented through the Civil Society Coordination desk and Governance & Service Delivery Sectoral committee.

PNG Resources Governance Coalition

The Papua New Guinea Resources Governance Coalition (PNGRGC) was established with the dual purposes of coordinating civil society’s participation in Papua New Guinea Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (PNFEITI), while playing a broader role as an umbrella organisation for civil society organisations (CSOs) with an interest in PNG’s extractive sector. This dual role was part of the early imaginations of the CSOs who founded PNGRGC and has since been formalized in PNGRGC’s Constitution.

PNGRGC’s vision “to generate inclusive growth for equal benefits to all citizens in PNG, where Natural Resources are extracted.”
